Funding for the government is set to expire on September 30th, and we're just weeks away from breaching the debt ceiling. If Congress doesn’t act fast, the consequences will be devastating.
Last night the House of Representatives passed legislation to prevent a shutdown and avoid a default. Jim Jordan voted to close down the government and stop the U.S. from paying its bills.
No one's surprised - Jim Jordan is notorious for shutting down the government when he doesn't get what he wants. He doesn't care about our food going uninspected, our water being polluted, small business loans being delayed or veterans losing out on the benefits they've been promised. And he doesn't care about the six million jobs a default would kill.
And the worst part is: Jim Jordan's only upset about the debt when we want to do something for ordinary Americans. He had no problem blowing up the deficit to cut taxes for billionaires.
After 14 years in office, Jim hasn’t passed a single bill into law. He consistently votes for tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations and sells out working and middle class families. I’m running to fire him from Congress because I think the American people deserve better.
