Just in case you had any illusion that Republicans in Congress are getting serious about helping our country recover from COVID or investing in badly needed infrastructure, I have some news for you: They’re doing exactly the opposite. (Like, as far as opposite can go.)

Last night, every single Republican but one in the House of Representatives voted to shut down the government, our very own Scott Franklin among them.

Nothing shows Franklin’s true colors more than this, and it’s the most urgent example yet of why we’ve got to flip this seat and bring real representation for FL-15 to Washington. Can you make a grassroots donation now to help me send Scott Franklin packing?

If you need a refresher (because House Republicans most certainly do), here’s the current situation: COVID-19 cases are on the rise across the country; The planet is warming at an alarming rate, further beyond our reach to mitigate with every day that passes; America’s 660 billionaires grew their wealth by $1.8 trillion during the pandemic, while our friends, families, and neighbors are still living paycheck to paycheck.

In the face of all those very urgent, very real issues, Republicans in Congress have chosen party over country. The cost of inaction is not some abstract thing, or a matter of changing numbers on a spreadsheet. It has catastrophic consequences — for regular people, our communities, and our planet.

From Day One, this campaign has been about electing a Congressman who will fight for you. Someone who puts the people of their district over power, politics, or party.

Scott Franklin has been an abject failure in this regard, and his latest vote proves it. Let’s flip this seat and bring a voice for the people back to Washington — chip in a buck or two to help us do it.
