This is outrageous.
As Haiti reels from the overlapping crises of COVID-19, another devastating earthquake, and political instability due to the assassination of its President, ICE is ramping up deportations of Haitian refugees seeking asylum in the United States.
Seeking asylum is a human right, and the accelerated deportation of Haitian refugees — including families and children — is deeply unjust, cruel, and callous. It has to stop.
As co-chair of the Congressional Haitian Caucus, I’m calling on President Biden and his Administration to immediately halt these cruel deportations. Will you join me?
Earlier this year, I led the fight to ensure Temporary Protected Status for the Haitian people. Now, we once again have a moral obligation to lead with compassion, to stand with the people of Haiti in the face of enormous destruction and hardship — not to create further suffering by cruelly enforcing unjust, broken immigration policies.
That’s why I need your urgent help today. Will you join me in calling on President Biden to act immediately and stop the deportation flights to Haiti? It’s going to take the full power of our movement to get this done.
