If it sometimes seems like EPA is working against us... 


Fox News (9/21/21) reports: "President Biden appointed a senior-level official to the Environmental Protection Agency who did not quit his job at a Hong Kong university – prompting concern among members of Congress and a government watchdog group regarding the university’s links to the Chinese government. Chris Frey was appointed in February to serve as deputy assistant administrator for science policy at the EPA’s Office of Research and Development. In May, Frey disclosed that he was on an unpaid leave of absence from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology...The government watchdog group Protect the Public’s Trust first obtained Frey’s May 11 ethics recusal statement through the Freedom of Information Act. The group’s director, Michael Chamberlain, called the university 'an arm of the Chinese government.' Universities in Hong Kong have been reportedly cracking down on academic freedom among faculty and students while supporting China’s communist government. Specifically, Frey’s employer, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, suspended a group of students for holding a memorial service for a student killed during the 2019 freedom protests against the Chinese government, the New York Times reported. "

Natural gas pries have doubled since Biden assumed office and may double again this winter. His answer:  Hand $11 Billion to the UN.


Wall Street Journal (9/21/21) reports: "President Biden outlined a U.S. foreign-policy vision rooted in global alliances during his first address to the United Nations as commander-in-chief, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy at a moment when relations with some U.S. allies are strained...The U.S. president made the case that the biggest issues facing the world—from the coronavirus pandemic to climate change—can only be solved with cooperation among countries with varying national interests. The world, he said, is facing a major inflection point in its history...Mr. Biden said the U.S. would ask Congress to double public and international financing to help developing countries deal with the effects of climate change. It is his second such pledge this year. During a White House climate summit in April, Mr. Biden said he would double an existing U.S. commitment of roughly $2.8 billion a year. The president’s Tuesday announcement would bring the total annual outlay to about $11 billion by 2024."

Renewable In Name Only... 🦏

What kind of mad, mad, mad, mad world are we living in when Spain, SPAIN, of all places is  reasonable on renewable energy?


Bloomberg (9/21/21) reports: "The European Union’s ambitious plan to reach climate neutrality risks falling victim to the unprecedented spike in natural gas and power prices, Spain has warned. The government in Madrid called on the European Commission to design procedures that will allow members states to react immediately to price surges, and to adopt measures to prevent financial speculation in its carbon market. The bloc should create a central platform to buy natural gas, boosting its bargaining power, according to a Spanish document sent to Brussels. 'This situation can provoke a backlash against carbon-cutting initiatives, as already seen in France with the gilets jaunes crisis,' the Spanish government said in the document, aimed at triggering a broader debate in Europe and seen by Bloomberg News. 'Carbon-cutting policies have been generally understood and accepted in Spain but may not stand a sustained period of abusive electricity prices.' Spain and the Commission both confirmed the document’s authenticity."
