Last week, as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, I helped advance desperately needed immigration reform to provide a potential pathway to permanent residence for immigrants already here and contributing to our country.
Even though this reform would raise significant tax revenue, the Senate parliamentarian ruled that it can’t be included in the Build Back Better plan.
If her ruling is allowed to hold, it will be close to impossible to move forward because it would need 60 votes in the Senate. Too much is at stake to let it fail.
