Welcome to Wednesday, October 23rd, Alphas, Betas, and Zetas...
Well, well, well, if it isn't ________________________.
Recently, I wrote that the Countable Community makes me feel like a proud Founding Father cradling his newborn republic. You comment, you cast votes, you hold Congress accountable.
But what should we call “you”?
“Countable Community” doesn’t quite capture all you do in keeping Liberty’s flame glowing.
So we asked for names, and you responded. After sifting out those that insulted one side of the aisle or the other, we feel we've got a pretty solid group of candidates to consider.
Cast your vote here, but here are some contenders:
- The aCountables
- Countstituents
- We The People
- The Accountants
What are you waiting for? Democracy isn't going to save itself. Vote now.

On the Radar
A Lynching
President Donald Trump on Tuesday compared the House's impeachment efforts to "a lynching."
Washington responded.
"You are comparing a constitutional process to the PREVALENT and SYSTEMATIC brutal torture of people in THIS COUNTRY that looked like me?" tweeted Congressional Black Caucus Chair Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA). "Every time your back is up against the wall, you throw out these racial bombs."
2020 candidate Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) tweeted, "Lynching is an act of terror used to uphold white supremacy. Try again."
Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-SD) said Trump's comparison was "not appropriate in any context."
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) defended Trump's use of the word, telling reporters: "This is a lynching in every sense. This is un-American."
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), the GOP's only African American senator, said, "There’s no question that the impeachment process is the closest thing to a political death row trial, so I get his absolute rejection of the process. I wouldn’t use the word lynching."
How do you feel about Trump's 'lynching' tweet?

Under the Radar
Pelosi's 'Fact Sheet'
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has released a “fact sheet” detailing allegations about President Trump’s “shakedown” of his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky which led to House Democrats’ ongoing impeachment probe.
“President Trump has betrayed his oath of office, betrayed our national security and betrayed the integrity of our elections for his own personal political gain,” Pelosi’s document states.
The document, titled “Truth Exposed,” includes what Pelosi’s office calls proof of a “pressure campaign” and “cover up” by the president regarding Ukraine. It also includes text messages from Ambassadors Gordon Sondland, Kurt Volker, and Bill Taylor, quotes by the president, and material from the anonymous whistleblower who filed a complaint about a July 25 call between Trump and Zelensky.
Read the document here (or its bullet points) then tell your reps:
How do you feel about Pelosi's 'fact sheet'?

And, in the End...
On October 23, 1915, over 25,000 women marched up Fifth Avenue in New York City demanding the right to vote.
It would still be another five years before they were successful.
It's National Slap Your Irritating Co-Worker Day, which means—ow, dammit, Tabby, stop hitting me,
