week that he will not run for re-election next year rather than
face a ferocious primary challenge against Max Miller, a former
Trump White House staffer backed by the former president.

The cancer of Trumpism is consuming the entire
party, and remaining sensible conservatives are being pushed out.
Rep. Gonzalez is the first of the 10 House Republicans who voted
to impeach Trump after the January 6 insurrection to retire
early, but he likely won’t be the last.
