BREAKING FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES:
TEXAS PASSES SWEEPING GUN LAW THAT ALLOWS "VIRTUALLY ANYONE" TO CARRY A HANDGUN
John, this is critical: Texas just enacted one of the nation's most dangerous gun laws — repealing the licensing and training requirements to carry a handgun for people 21 and older.
Mass shootings in Texas have already increased by 40% this year alone, and now, this new law could dramatically increase gun violence throughout the state. Even worse, Texas joins a growing list of states enacting similar laws right as the Supreme Court prepares to hear a case experts say could "make the NRA's dreams come true."
We need to fight back immediately. But with the NRA and their bought-and-paid-for politicians doing everything they can to stop us, we're going to need a massive surge of grassroots folks like you to make their voices heard.
Brady is leading the charge to take on the gun lobby in Congress, courts, and communities, but we still don't know if you're with us. We need another 17 responses from your area before our emergency-response deadline at midnight. So please, tell us before our poll closes:
Do you think we should make it EASIER to carry weapons in public?
