Team -- last month, the House passed Terri’s new voting rights bill, H.R.4.

The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, or H.R.4, will ensure equal access to the ballot box and protect voters against the onslaught of voting restrictions we’ve seen pop up in Republican-controlled states.

Now that the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act has been passed in the House, the REAL battle is getting the bill passed in the Senate.

We need to show the Senate that Terri has a GROUNDSWELL of grassroots support for this bill because we know that Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans will do whatever they can to stop this progressive legislation.

H.R.4 includes a few key provisions that are essential for protecting the sacred right to vote, including:

• Restoring and strengthening protections from the original Voting Rights Act of 1965 that were gutted by the Supreme Court in 2013


• Requiring states with a recent history of voter discrimination to obtain pre-clearance before making any changes to their voting laws


• Eliminating the heightened standard for challenging racially discriminatory voting laws
