John,

It might be surprising, but the right to vote is not enshrined in the Constitution. Slowly, over the course of our history, various groups have been given access to the ballot box through a trickle of legislation and court rulings. The history of voting is a back and forth between expanding and suppressing the right to vote. We can end this back and forth by establishing an affirmative right to vote.

This might seem like a technicality. It is not. Without an affirmative right to vote, it is very easy to pass voter suppression laws.

For decades Democrats have been trying to change this. We are emailing you today because Sen. Ossoff and Rep. Mondaire Jones have just introduced the “Right to Vote Act.” This legislation is our best path forward for protecting voting rights. John, can you chip in $25 to support our organizing program that will help voters call their Senators and demand they pass a national voting rights bill?

We shouldn’t have to keep fighting for the basic right to vote ahead of every major election. It should be a right afforded to all Americans and any politicians trying to limit the right to vote will have to thoroughly explain what they are doing. If you agree, we hope you chip in to support our program to get this bill passed.

------------

Vote From Home is a grassroots movement that's fighting to expand vote-by-mail. We helped thousands of Democrats vote safely from home in Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina and Georgia in 2020 and 2021. Now we're focused on stopping politicians and legislation who are making it harder for Americans to vote by mail. Please forward this email if you know someone who may be interested. Our average gift is just under $21 so consider donating that today to support voting rights: [link removed]
