[ [link removed] ]Ayanna Pressley
Yesterday, Ayanna introduced an amendment to the National Defense
Authorization Act (NDAA) to stop the transfer of military weapons to
civilian law enforcement.
The Department of Defense’s 1033 program currently equips our federal,
state, local, and tribal police forces with surplus military equipment.
There is no reason a local police department needs a military tank to
patrol our communities — and this militarization disproportionately
impacts Black and Latinx communities. Our neighbors are not an enemy
force, and there is no place for military weapons on our streets.
Ayanna is fighting every day to enact policies that meet the scale and
scope of the challenges facing our communities — like police violence. And
she depends on the support of folx like you to ensure our movement has the
resources to keep fighting alongside her.

make a $3 contribution right now to help keep Ayanna in
Congress fighting to demilitarize our civilian law enforcement and protect
our communities from police violence?

Ayanna didn’t stop with demilitarizing law enforcement. She knows that our
destinies are tied, and that crises of police brutality and systemic
racism — here and abroad — cannot be decoupled from crises of public
health and economic hardship.
That’s why Ayanna also introduced a second amendment to the NDAA, calling
on President Biden to use his authority under the Defense Production Act
to ramp up vaccine production and deployment globally.
In light of the stark global vaccine inequities, this amendment would help
save millions of lives by increasing vaccination levels abroad and, in
turn, protect our nation from the risk of new viral threats.
From police violence to our public health and national security — Ayanna
is rising to meet the scope of issues impacting our communities right now.
[ [link removed] ]It’s up to us to keep fighting alongside
her — will you make a $3 contribution to keep our movement
for transformative justice strong?
Thank you,
The A-Team
