Deadline for recovery is fast approaching! Indivisibles,
If you’ve been keeping up with our emails, you’ll know that the next six days are crucial for us to pass a big, bold, inclusive recovery package that prioritizes all the progressive issues we care about most. We have less than one week left to sway the last House Dems to pass an inclusive recovery package before the September 27 deadline, and ensure senators are standing by to pass it in their chamber. Click here to call your member of Congress and demand they pass the reconciliation bill.
Don’t forget -- the ten conservative Democrats who wanted to water down the recovery bill forced this deadline. They’re trying to stop incredibly popular, must-have provisions in order to placate their donors. Here’s what’s at stake if we don’t pass this bill by next week:
- Lowering drug prices, expanding Medicare to cover vision, dental, and hearing, and lowering the eligibility age to 60 years old;
- Investments in climate, including a Clean Electricity Performance Program (with no fossil fuels!) and a Civilian Climate Corps;
- Investments in housing, especially deeply affordable housing and housing for unhoused populations;
- Historic investments in the care economy including universal child care, paid leave and home and community-based care; and
- Address extreme wealth inequality by taxing the ultra-rich and big corporations so they finally pay their fair share.
The House needs to pass the reconciliation bill before September 27, which means pressure is the name of the game this week. That's why we need you to call your Representative right away and demand they pass the reconciliation package without delay.
Congress must deliver on Biden’s recovery agenda. This is a crucial, must-pass bill that will help pretty much everybody in the entire country. We have to do everything we can to get it passed.
In solidarity, Indivisible Team
