John, Roe v. Wade is officially on the chopping block. The Supreme court set December 1 as the date that they will hear oral arguments about Mississippi’s ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. This is a critical moment that threatens to overturn the abortion protections established under Roe v. Wade.
We already saw how Texas Republicans made S.B.8 — a dangerous bill that bans abortion past the 6-week gestation mark (before people even know they’re pregnant) — the law of the land. Right now, Republican states are pulling all the stops to overturn Roe v. Wade. That’s why we must send Jessica Cisneros to Congress so that she can fight to codify Roe v. Wade to protect Black and Brown people along the Texas border who will bear the brunt of attacks on abortion rights.
But Henry Cuellar — the last anti-choice Democrat in Congress — is one of the biggest roadblocks in this fight. He poses as a Republican when he claims to be a Democrat when it comes to abortion. And when Donald Trump was in office, he voted with him nearly 70% of the time. We absolutely cannot trust him to defend a person’s right to choose.

Henry Cuellar has spent years undermining abortion rights to please his anti-choice special interests in exchange for his vote. He has put them before the needs of those who live along the border for far too long.
But Jessica Cisneros has always advocated protecting abortion rights — because she knows that quality reproductive care, including access to abortion, is necessary to achieve economic security for low-income Black and Latinx people.
South Texas deserves a real Democrat who will protect and build on the right to bodily autonomy in Congress. But last time, super PACs and corporate interests — including the anti-choice Koch brothers’ empire — flooded into our race to protect Henry Cuellar’s seat.
