The most extreme members of the Republican party are only gaining steam.
Team,
If there was any doubt that Donald Trump is still the head of the Republican party, (including Republican AGs) the last few weeks of Trump-world movements should have put that to rest:
Trump endorsed Michigan’s Big Lie supporter turned GOP AG candidate Matthew DePerno as well as indicted Republican Texas AG Ken Paxton. DePerno helped inspire the right-wing conspiracy surrounding Dominion Voting Systems, and Paxton is under investigation for his involvement in the attack on the Capitol.
Former Trump advisor Stephen Miller is organizing a group of Republican AGs, with the sole intention of filing lawsuits to prevent the Biden administration from implementing their agenda for progress.
The Republican Attorneys General Association still haven’t released any conclusions from their “internal investigation” on their involvement in the January 6th pre-insurrection rally. They’re refusing to hold themselves accountable.
Extremist Republican AGs and candidates are gaining steam ahead of the 2022 midterms, and we need to make sure we have a bench of Democratic Attorneys General to confront this movement and stop it in its tracks.
Dem AGs are leading with heart, friend. They’re the People’s Lawyers, and we need to do everything we can to support them and make sure they can keep fighting for our communities.
Meanwhile, the rise of the extreme right wing and their candidates for AG is proof that the most radical wing of the party is here to stay for 2022 and beyond…unless we act decisively to keep them out of office.
