Next Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day, and now couldn’t be a better time to renew our efforts to protect and expand the right to vote.
Because while Democrats are fighting to expand voting rights and make it easier for voters to make their voices heard, Republicans are waging an all-out attack on OUR right to vote.

From South Carolina to Washington, DC, the GOP has made undermining our elections and restricting our voting rights one of their top priorities since Democrats won nationwide in 2020.
SC Republicans railed against the SC Voter Access Bill with baseless claims of voter fraud jeopardizing election integrity. They’ve introduced bills to make it more difficult to vote absentee — all for so-called “election security.”
But we know what that really means… it’s just a cover for them to suppress the vote of marginalized communities — just like they did decades before with Jim Crow laws.
And restricting our access to the ballot box isn’t the only way they suppress the vote — Republicans have ruthlessly gerrymandered our state to diminish the voices of Black and brown communities.
When I was first elected to the SC General Assembly, my House district was targeted during the redistricting process. Republicans packed swing districts like mine with Black voters to further marginalize the voices of the minority, rid the Democratic Party of white Democrats, and create a permanent Republican majority stronghold in our state.
I’ve never been afraid to stand up to those who obstruct fair and equitable representation — even within my own party. That’s why I’m running to give South Carolinians an ally who’ll fight for them. All of us deserve a government that represents our best interests.
