Election 44
Congratulations to Prime Minister Trudeau on his re-election, and all of those who took the personal sacrifice of running to represent our country. Thank you to everyone who voted in this election – by mail or in person. It is our continued engagement in the democratic process that ensures our voices and our issues are heard and accounted for.
Over the course of this election, we heard from the Liberals and other parties, on their commitment to support workers. Canada’s Building Trades look forward to continue working with this Government on issues important to our members including moving forward with affordable childcare, transitioning to Net Zero by investing in green energy and ensuring workers aren’t left behind; and the continued support for workers from things like the Union Training and Innovation Program to reforming Employment Insurance.
As committed to in the Liberal Party platform, we look forward to working with the Government and opposition parties to introduce a Labour Mobility Tax Credit to support workers in the building and construction trades with temporary relocation expenses in the upcoming parliamentary session.
Canada’s Building Trades Unions are ready to work with the Government and opposition parties to build Canada, support the next generation of skilled trades workers and improve the lives of hardworking Canadians.
I look forward to moving forward, together.
- Sean Strickland, Executive Director, Canada's Building Trades Unions
