John -- We wanted to be sure you knew about the anti-gerrymandering provisions of Democrats' NEW election reform bill, the Freedom To Vote Act:
- ✭ It would BAN partisan gerrymandering of congressional districts IMMEDIATELY after going into effect.
- ✭ It would require states to adopt fair and transparent processes for drawing maps.
- ✭ It would strengthen protections for communities of color.
DO YOU SUPPORT THE FREEDOM TO VOTE ACT?
Here's what A.G. Holder had to say:
"[The Freedom To Vote Act] is the best chance we have to stop [Republicans'] attack on American democracy -- by banning partisan gerrymandering, protecting the right to vote, and returning power back to the people, where it belongs... There is an urgent need to get [this] bill to President Biden's desk for his signature, and Senate Democrats must act swiftly to make it happen."
Getting this bill through the Senate is a top priority for the NDRC and our affiliates. There are maps being released every day -- in fact, Texas may release its critically important congressional map as early as tomorrow. There’s not much time to get this bill across the finish line. Please let us know ASAP:
