"Lawsuits are filed against a Texas doctor who said he performed an abortion"

Breaking news, John —

Not even three weeks after Texas Republicans enacted one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country — at six weeks of pregnancy, as soon as two weeks after a missed period and before many people know they’re pregnant — it’s already happened: Two separate lawsuits have been filed against a doctor who provided abortion care in defiance of the ban.

Texas’s dangerous, unconstitutional law allows anyone to sue not just abortion providers, but any person they suspect may have “aided or abetted” an abortion — a driver who gave a ride to a clinic, or a relative who provided funding — and receive an award of at least $10,000 for successfully doing so. Anti-choicers can now *literally* earn money off suppressing the fundamental right to reproductive care. It’s outrageous.

This law has already forced abortion providers in Texas to stop providing care. We cannot allow this law to stand — or ones like it to come to Pennsylvania.

Add your name if you agree: We must pass legislation at the federal level to codify Roe v. Wade and protect reproductive rights.
