John,
I thought of you — a supporter of our work for families in crisis — as soon as I saw this video.
It tells the story of Chef Noori, a former refugee and beloved IRC community member. Chef Noori received a Special Immigrant Visa and he and his family were able to escape the violence in Afghanistan.
They resettled in Richmond, Virginia in 2015, and just two years later he opened his own restaurant — called the Mantu — serving the cuisine of his home country.
Chef Noori understands what families fleeing Afghanistan right now are going through, and how a warm meal and kind welcome can make all the difference. That's why he has prepared hundreds of homemade meals over the past few weeks to welcome Afghan refugees as they arrive in the U.S. |
