John,

DNA and other forensic evidence play a huge role in the work we do at the Innocence Project.

So we believe that in order to get justice, people in the criminal legal system need to understand the science of DNA and other forms of evidence that are used in court. But there are many misconceptions around criminal forensic science. The use of flawed forensics shows up everywhere from popular TV shows to courtrooms, and can have devastating consequences.

That’s why tomorrow at 6 p.m. ET, Sarah Chu, our senior advisor on forensic science policy, will join actress Willa Fitzgerald for an Instagram Live conversation about the role of forensic science in advancing justice.

Make sure you’re following the Innocence Project on Instagram so that you’ll be notified when we go live tomorrow. Trust us, you won’t want to miss it:

Started in 1992 as a legal clinic at Cardozo School of Law, the Innocence Project is now an independent nonprofit, affiliated with Cardozo, that exonerates the wrongly convicted through DNA testing and reforms the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.
