Make calls now to your representative. Indivisibles,
The next seven days are crucial for us to pass a big, bold, inclusive recovery package that prioritizes all the progressive issues we care about most. We’ve been busy navigating the shifting terrain on Capitol Hill, pivoting to meet the urgency of the moment, and we’ve got one week left to sway the last House Dems to pass the reconciliation package before the September 27 deadline. Don’t forget -- this deadline was forced by ten conservative Democrats who wanted to water down the recovery bill and pass the bipartisan infrastructure framework in its stead.
All month long, we’ve been using a three-pronged approach to be most effective -- we’ve been supporting House progressives to hold the line; we’ve been putting the heat on conservative Democrats to fall in line; and we’ve been supporting Indivisible groups whose members of Congress sit on key, decision-making committees. Now with an impending vote in the coming days, we need to make sure we get this reconciliation bill passed. Call your members of Congress (House and Senate!) and demand they support an inclusive recovery package. Then, keep calling.
We’re confident that we can make a real impact on this piece of legislation, but it takes consistent, applied pressure on our elected officials. Whether we’re talking about recovery or the upcoming democracy reform showdown in October, Indivisibles have all the tools to win. With that, here are your weekly to-dos:
Your weekly to-dos
- Make calls on an inclusive recovery package before it’s too late. We’ve only got a few days left to make this recovery as big and bold as possible, so click here to call your representative now. Then click here to call your senators and demand they pass the bill immediately after the House sends it over.
- Tell your representative to protect Roe v. Wade now. Call your rep now and demand they cosponsor the Women’s Health Protection Act, and vote to pass the bill when the House takes it up this week.
- Call your senators and demand they eliminate the filibuster to protect our democracy. Senate Democrats released a new version of their democracy reform bill, the Freedom to Vote Act, which builds on the For the People Act. We need them to eliminate the filibuster now to pass the bill.
P.S. We rely on your support to keep call pages up and running, fund ads to get the word out, and continue all the work we’re doing this year. If you’re able, click here to donate to help fund our work.
