Last week, our Republican opponent Ryan Zinke went on a far-right radio show and reminded us what’s at stake in next year’s election for Montana’s new U.S. Representative.

Zinke started the interview by saying we need “one voice” for Montana — and it needs to be a Republican voice. Then, just days after Rep. Matt Rosendale said he “strongly opposes” letting Afghanistan refugees resettle in Montana, Zinke kept up with the narrative started by his Republican colleague, arguing against allowing displaced Afghans to live in Montana.

We don’t need another Matt Rosendale in Congress pushing this hateful, discriminatory rhetoric.

This isn’t who we are, John. Montanans take pride in bipartisanship and balanced government. We’re a historically purple state of diverse backgrounds and points of view. The last thing our state needs is another extremist, far-right, Trump loyalist in Congress further dividing us.

Laurie Bishop is a compassionate, thoughtful leader who leads with her Democratic values but has a track record of bringing people together in order to get things done. Unlike her opponent, she will represent every Montanan in Washington, D.C. — but she needs our help getting there.
