Hi,

Our chance to fight climate change is in danger.

Right now, Congress is debating what elements of the $3.5 trillion Build Back Better Budget Resolution will stay or drop from the final bill. The proposal as drafted will put America on a path to meet the climate change goals of 80% clean electricity and 50% economy-wide carbon emissions reductions by 2030. We can honor our Paris Agreement commitments and lead the world by example.

But Big Oil and big polluters will use their lobbying power to remove these key provisions during debate. We can’t let Congress choose profits and politics over the planet. It’s no longer a real choice — a healthy and prosperous future is a green future. There simply isn’t one without the other.

The Build Back Better plan aims to make the country sustainable, climate resilient and climate literate. Clean energy tax incentives and electric vehicle infrastructure development will break us free from fossil fuel dependence. Investment in our buildings, water, transportation and energy infrastructure will be used to prevent, reduce and withstand a changing climate. The Civilian Climate Corps will prepare our young people looking for careers in environmental fields.

As Congress debates the budget reconciliation proposal before them, they MUST keep these key provisions geared towards stopping the worst outcomes of climate change in the final bill. We can’t let them forget the green economy.

Sign the petition: Keep the green economy in the Build Back Better bill. <[link removed]>

Now more than ever, we must build back greener.

In unity,

Kathleen Rogers

President
