The Senate Parliamentarian has issued the first of many procedural decisions on immigration, but we are undeterred. Democrats must pursue every possible option to pass a pathway to citizenship. |

Friend,
Did you know that a strong majority of Americans — by a +41-point margin — supports legislation that would create an earned path to citizenship?
Congress has a prime opportunity to provide long-awaited security and reprieve to Dreamers, TPS holders, farmworkers, and other undocumented essential workers by ensuring a pathway to citizenship stays in the budget.
If American voters are calling out for immigration reform and our elected leaders are in a position to finally deliver on their promises, what are we waiting for?
Not only is a pathway to citizenship incredibly popular, it’s good for the economy. A pathway to citizenship will boost wages, reduce deficits, and accelerate GDP growth. This crucial investment in the American economy is key to a robust economic recovery. And there is no moral economic recovery without including the immigrants who have kept this country running even amidst a global pandemic.
Congress needs to hear from you: Send a letter to demand that immigration stays in the budget reconciliation package.
Senate Democrats have proposed a pathway to citizenship in the next budget reconciliation package, which can bypass a GOP filibuster and pass with a simple majority vote. This is the best chance Democrats in Congress have had in years to finally bring hope to folks who have been waiting for a lifeline — and this time, Republicans won’t be able to block it.
The immigrant rights movement organized relentlessly for years to get us here. Our foot is in the door because of the multi-racial and multi-generational coalition of voters who have advanced this movement for immigrant justice. Now, it’s up to us to keep up the momentum and ensure citizenship stays in the version that reaches the president’s desk. This is our year and reconciliation is our instrument.
Urge Congress to keep a pathway to citizenship in the final budget reconciliation package.
