We can’t brush California races aside.
Just last week, California Governor Gavin Newsom survived the right-wing recall campaign against him after Republicans across the country funneled millions of dollars into removing him from office.
Despite our victory, the recall effort shows us what we worried would be true: the GOP is ready to go all-in on trying to flip California red.
Now, stick with me – as hard as it is to believe, it’s not that unlikely. Let me explain why.
In the 2020 election, 88% of Congressional candidates who raised more money than their opponents won their election. And we know the GOP has enough corporate, lobbyist, and PAC money to funnel into each and every seat in California. Organized people can beat big money, but it makes our fights a lot harder.
Plus, with California’s redistricting on the horizon, we don’t know how our district will be affected – meaning I could be going up a well-funded Republican in a new, potentially purple, district.
And with the NRCC outraising the DCCC by nearly $9 million last quarter, we know that they will have the cash and momentum to spare when it comes to targeting districts that could be affected by California’s redistricting, like ours.
With proof that the GOP is willing to put all their power into California elections, the stakes couldn’t be higher:
If you can, will you be one of the grassroots donors we need to make a donation to my campaign today? Any amount you can chip in will make a big difference in the fight to protect my seat.
