In 1966, 28 feminists each contributed $5 to start the National Organization for Women (NOW).

Frustrated that there was no strong national organization advancing women’s rights like they saw in the civil rights movement, these feminists (just like you) committed to creating it—and NOW was born!

The organization these women started more than 50 years ago stood for women’s equality, protection from violence, and reproductive justice—and we still do!

Today, we are experiencing unprecedented attacks on many of the advances we’ve made since 1966. We cannot let that happen.
