On Monday, September 27, our partners, the Wisconsin Fair Maps Coalition, will host a Legislative Lobby Day at the Capitol in Madison to talk to legislators and encourage them to support the fair maps bills, AB395/SB389. This event will be both in-person and virtual, and the Wisconsin Fair Maps Coalition will host training sessions to make sure everyone feels comfortable, no matter their experience.

Events like these are important to the ACLU of Wisconsin because of our priorities promoting voting rights and racial justice, which depend on legislators who can be held accountable – something which is impossible under the current maps.

The extreme partisan gerrymandering we've seen in Wisconsin has damaged the health of our state's democracy. Wisconsin's maps should be representative, fair, and nonpartisan, and not deliberately engineered to keep incumbent politicians in power. Biased maps diminish the power of voters by allowing elected officials to more easily overlook our perspectives.
