I have always been a strong supporter of reproductive justice and here’s why.

Earlier this month, Senate Bill 8, a bill that bans abortions around six weeks into a pregnancy (which is before many even realize they’re pregnant in the first place), became law. This new law is a direct violation of Roe v. Wade and will make it nearly impossible to access abortion in the state of Texas. But this week, Congress will vote to codify Roe v. Wade. Texans deserve a reproductive rights champion who we know will do the right thing and not leave us wondering how they will vote. This is a critical time to protect our rights.

Henry Cuellar is the only anti-choice Democrat in Congress. At this critical time, where we must protect reproductive rights, we cannot count on Henry Cuellar to vote to codify Roe v. Wade and protect reproductive access for millions of Texans and millions across the country. We need Congress to codify Roe v. Wade now.

This is a dark time in Texas — and we know the dangerous consequences of anti-choice legislation. This is a life-or-death situation for many seeking reproductive health care, and that is why it is critical we advocate and protect access to reproductive healthcare.

We need to understand that it’s folks of color and low-income communities who are harmed the most. Reproductive justice and having access to reproductive care is health care.
