Texas’ near-total ban on abortion that went into effect earlier this month exemplifies why we need to codify the protections of Roe v. Wade into law.

We won’t get any help from the conservative Supreme Court. The justices’ inaction on this obviously unconstitutional infringement on women’s abortion rights has proven that our rights are hanging on by a string.

Luckily, the Women’s Health Protection Act will enshrine into law reproductive health care for all women across America -- and I’m proud to be a cosponsor of this legislation.

This means that it’s doubly important that we hold our slim House majority in 2022, because Republicans have made it clear that they will do everything in their power to ban abortion when they control the House.
