Greetings from Heritage headquarters in the nation’s capital. In this week’s Agenda, we look at just how much President Joe Biden’s spending spree will cost you. (Hint, a lot.) We point out why Biden’s attacks on the unvaccinated will backfire. And we celebrate a victory over Big Tech censorship after Amazon tried to ban ads for a Heritage expert’s book. Also, don’t forget to check out the Heritage events, podcasts, and more featured below.
Biden Makes a Veiled Bid for Your Paycheck <[link removed]>
Sixty-four cents out of every dollar in your,
and everyone else’s, paycheck. That’s what it would cost to fund President Joe Biden’s planned $6.4 trillion spending spree. But won’t only the super-rich have to pay? According to Heritage senior policy analyst Richard Stern, that’s just what the administration wants you to think. “This gigantic spending and tax spree may be only the beginning of what he and his congressional allies have planned,” Stern writes. Read the full commentary to find out how the Biden administration’s proposed tax-and-spend policies would affect you <[link removed]>.
Demonizing the Unvaccinated Is the Wrong Approach <[link removed]>
President Joe Biden appealed to unity on Sept. 9, right after spending 26 minutes demonizing unvaccinated Americans. Biden’s speech was intended to lay out his proposals to increase COVID-19 vaccination rates, but the main takeaway was the administration’s flagrant disregard for freedom and personal choice. “The president’s newest COVID-19 plan, like his speech, misses the mark. He needs to throw out this playbook and start again,” writes Heritage senior fellow Doug Badger. Read the full commentary to learn what Biden’s vaccination plan entails <[link removed]>.
Amazon Reverses Censorship of Heritage Expert’s Book <[link removed]>
Heritage scored a
victory against Big Tech censorship last Thursday after Amazon attempted to ban ads for a book by Mike Gonzalez, who is the Angeles T. Arredondo E Pluribus Unum fellow at Heritage. The book, “BLM: The Making of a New Marxist Revolution <[link removed]>,” exposes the group’s Marxist origins and aims. To justify its ad ban, Amazon initially said—and we are not making this up—that it doesn’t allow “content that revolves around controversial or highly debated social topics.” Heritage issued a forceful public response, after which Amazon lifted its ban. “While we appreciate Amazon reversing this egregious decision,” Heritage President Kay C. James said in a statement, “this incident is consistent with the trend of Big Tech companies to suppress conservative speech they disagree with.” Read the full news release to find out more. You can buy Mike’s book here <[link removed]>.
