Cluster of Haitians Under Texas Bridge Grows
Approaching 15,000, according to this story, as they keep coming ( Fox News). From Bill Melugin of Fox LA: NEW: CBP sources confirm in the last 24 hrs they have processed 2,166 migrants in Del Rio sector, meaning approx 12-13k still at bridge. At least two buses are taking single adult men to Weslaco in the Rio Grande Valley, a sector where they are already 500% over capacity @FoxNews ( Twitter). From the Wall Street Journal editorial board: The massing of thousands of Haitians under a bridge near Del Rio, Texas, in recent days is the latest example of government failure and perverse incentives that are producing chaos at the border. The scenes from the area couldn’t have been scripted better by immigration restrictionists: Thousands of migrants crossing the Rio Grande en masse in the expectation that they’ll be able to claim asylum in the U.S. The thousands of Haitians fleeing desperate poverty somehow made it to Mexico, then traveled to the border, probably with the help of the cartels that control the human traffic. U.S. border agents have closed the legal Del Rio Port of Entry, so normal cross-border traffic essential for commerce is shut down. Some 15,000 Haitians and others are trapped in awful conditions around the Del Rio International Bridge, without basic necessities. The migrants may be carrying Covid-19, and border agents are overwhelmed ( WSJ).

Senate Parliamentarian Tells Dems Amnesty Can’t Be Part of $3.5 Trillion Spending Package
From the story: While Democrats previously vowed that they would pursue an alternative proposal should they disagree with the ruling, the decision from the nonpartisan Senate rules arbiter likely closes the path forward for providing legal status through the so-called budget reconciliation process, which allows Democrats to sidestep a filibuster. With bipartisan immigration talks stalled, Democrats widely viewed the social spending package as their best chance to enact immigration reform ( Politico). From David Limbaugh: That they even tried is scandalous. That the parliamentarian invoked the rule of law is amazing in today’s climate of disrespect for the law, but much appreciated ( Twitter). From Marc Thiessen: Anyone surprised by this doesn’t understand how budget reconciliation works ( Twitter). From Rich Lowry: This is self-evidently the right decision—the idea that amnesty for 8 million people is primarily a fiscal measure that belongs in the reconciliation bill was always laughably absurd ( Twitter). From National Review: The amnesty would cover an estimated 8 million illegal aliens, easily constituting the largest amnesty in American history. The bill has a broad definition of so-called Dreamers. To benefit from DACA, illegal immigrants had to have entered the United States when they were under the age of 16 and resided here since 2007. In the reconciliation bill, the standards shift to include people who came under the age of 18 and resided here on or before January 1 of this year ( National Review).

Texas Doctor Brags He Broke Law, Killed Unborn Baby
And WaPo published his op-ed explanation, essentially the manifesto of a killer. But in it, one particular paragraph tells a lot about how his and many other abortionists had their world view tragically shaped: In medical school in Texas, we’d been taught that abortion was an integral part of women’s health care. When the Supreme Court issued its ruling in Roe v. Wade in 1973, recognizing abortion as a constitutional right, it enabled me to do the job I was trained to do.
