Team, I hope you’re doing well.

I’m back with another monthly update that’s filled with information you should know. So, let’s dive right into things because there’s plenty to fill you in on and 2022 will be here before we know it!

CAMPAIGN UPDATES

Thanks to your help, I’m happy to report that our campaign reached its mid-month goal for September. This is a big deal for my campaign and allows us to grow our organizing program. It also signals to my Republican opponents that our broad coalition of supporters is ready to give their all to keep this district blue!

On a matter that’s personal to me, I’m proud to announce that I’ve been endorsed by NARAL — one of the nation’s top women’s reproductive freedom organizations. Like so many of you, I’ve felt angry and worried about the uptick in legislative attacks on women’s reproductive health in Texas. Rest assured, you can count on me to fight tooth and nail in Congress to protect the right to choose.

POLICY UPDATES

Just a few weeks back, I voted for the budget resolution which included a historic $3.5 trillion to revitalize American infrastructure. This important budget aims to bring billions of dollars of investment to Nevada, as well as thousands of good paying jobs. Here are just a few parts of the budget in that Nevadans have to look forward to:

*
Expanding
affordable
quality
child
care
and
universal
Pre-K
programs
*
Fighting
the
effects
of
climate
change
*
Overhauling
infrastructure
and
investing
in
jobs

Folks, I was also proud to vote in favor of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. This bill, which is awaiting a vote in the Senate, would restore a crucial piece of the Voting Rights Act by requiring preclearance on new voting laws passed in states with a history of voter suppression. That said, there’s still plenty that Congress needs to do to protect the right to vote once and for all.

AROUND THE DISTRICT

The third round of Child Tax Credit payments have been sent out to 44,000 families with children across the district. This is money that parents are able to use in any way that they deem best to assist their families.

Make no mistake, the benefits of the Child Tax Credit are clear. Child poverty has been cut in half and households that reported having children with not enough to eat have decreased by 3.3 million across the country. This is what progress looks like.

As the Delta variant continues to surge in Nevada and across the country, I want to remind folks how important it is to mask up, social distance, and get vaccinated. The vaccine is free, safe, and overwhelmingly effective in fighting off Covid’s Delta variant. Let’s do what we can to keep ourselves and our communities safe.

With all that’s going on across the district and in our country, I wanted to thank you for continuing to support my campaign. It truly does mean the world to me.

Talk to you soon,

Susie
