Team — NewDems are taking a stand against shady online fundraising tactics. We don’t do it, and we won’t stand for it. By our read, there’s no one — NO ONE — who’s more underhanded, more egregious, or more cynical in their “grassroots” fundraising than former President Donald Trump. Just look at the screenshots we captured from his "Save America" Joint Fundraising Committee back in August:
Did you spot all the places he’s misdirecting donors? We found quite a few. ❌ “Please contribute any amount ‘in the next hour'…" We watched this page for days. The language didn't change. “In the next hour” is meaningless. ❌ “Claim your 4x impact” We can’t be 100 percent sure, but as far as we could tell, there’s no mechanism to multiply a donation. No matching donor, no outside help… nothing. It’s most likely made up. ❌ “Founding Member” Politico reported over a month ago that Trump’s multi-headed campaign arm raised over $80 million in the first half of 2021. That’s unfortunate, but “founding member” is definitely a stretch. Call us crazy: We don’t think anyone should lie to their supporters just to turn a buck. Over the next week, we will be highlighting some of the shadiest email practices in the business. You won’t believe some of the wild things these campaigns will do to take your money.
