Hello

On this day in 2010, my husband Brian Mast was blown up by a bomb while serving our nation overseas in Afghanistan. He lost both legs and a finger, and it is only thanks to the quick action of his fellow soldiers and the grace of God that he is still alive today.

When I first saw him lying in a hospital bed, it was a jarring experience. The man I knew could do anything he set his mind to, and now he was stuck in a bed missing two legs.

But even before he could speak again, I could see in his eyes that he wouldn’t let the best service he gave our nation be behind him. From the first moment he was back on U.S. soil, he was looking for a new way to serve our country.
When Joe Biden abandoned Americans and our allies in Afghanistan, I could see in those same eyes that Brian was questioning whether it was all worth it. But quickly that doubt gave way to something stronger: determination to help those he served with.

Since then, Brian has been working overtime to help get Americans and the Afghans that he served with, out of the country. He is determined to help them, even if Joe Biden won’t.

Brian always puts the needs of others ahead of his own. That’s why, today—on what we call Brian’s “Alive Day”—I want to do something to help him.

As a result of Brian focusing so much on helping those stuck in Afghanistan, he hasn’t had the time to fundraise for his next election. Campaigns cost millions of dollars to run, and if Brian is going to have the resources necessary to win, he needs our help now.

That’s why I told Brian I would help him raise $10,000 toward his end-of-quarter fundraising goal. I’m hoping you’ll help me with a contribution of $5, $15, $35, $50, $100, or any amount you can afford.
Every morning that I wake up with Brian it is clear in both his words and his actions that he loves our country deeply. He glows with pride getting the chance to make our country great each and every day as a United States Congressman.

But he can’t do it alone. He needs us to support him.

That’s why I’m asking, if at all possible if you would be willing to support the efforts of my husband today.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Brianna Mast
