John, this is DASS Chair Jena Griswold, and I want you to understand what we’re up against next year. The 2020 election cycle was a difficult time. But the midterms could be even worse if we aren’t ready.

Extremist and far-right Secretary of State candidates have been spreading the same dangerous lies as Donald Trump and his supporters did leading up to 2020. They’re willing to lie about elections, even as they themselves campaign to run your elections.

I believe in voting rights, poll access, and the urgent need for civil discourse and equity to combat the troubles plaguing our nation. But the far-right just believes in winning elections, no matter the cost to their constituents or to the electoral system itself.

We’ve never faced these kinds of threats on this scale. And it’s past time for our nation to start taking anti-democratic threats seriously.
