With such a short timeline, Republicans have more opportunities to eschew public input in the map-drawing process. And all over the country, that’s exactly what they're trying to do: For example, in North Carolina, GOP map drawers released draft guidelines for map criteria less than 24 hours before the only hearing for public input on those criteria, then made the hearing nearly impossible to access!

This means the NDRC's work to bring citizens into the redistricting process, shine a light on what Republicans are doing, and hold them accountable has never been more important. We have to be able to know what's happening and know how to fight back in states across the country -- and we can't do that without resources.
