Hi John,

If you’re anything like me, you love your local Ace Hardware store. After all, they’re "the place with the helpful hardware folks."

But that’s why I was shocked to learn that Ace stores in my home state recently sold firearms used in deadly crimes — including the AR-15-style rifle used by the Kenosha gunman.

At 17, the Kenosha gunman was too young to legally purchase a gun. So, he conspired with a friend to buy a rifle through an illegal “straw sale” at an Ace store not too far from where I live in Wisconsin. You know what happened next: He used the rifle to tragically shoot and kill two people, Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum, at a Black Lives Matter protest. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only careless recent gun sale by an Ace store.

Straw sales like this one are entirely preventable — if gun sellers like Ace have safe policies to prevent them. That’s why Brady privately requested Ace Hardware Corporation adopt better business practices for selling firearms. They ignored us. So, I’m asking for your help. Will you sign our petition asking Ace Hardware Corporation to adopt a policy to safely and responsibly sell firearms?

Ace Hardware prides itself in being a good neighbor — and that's why Americans like you and me love them! By adopting a national policy to ensure responsible gun sales, Ace can even better benefit the neighborhoods and communities they serve.

With your help, we can ensure Ace remains the “helpful place” we know and love . Please, John, join me and add your name to our petition to Ace now.
