Friend, today marks one year since Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's passing. I'll never forget what a somber day it was when the world heard the news. I still feel that sense of loss. But more so, today, I'm reminded of Justice Ginsburg's brilliance, her legacy and the inspiration she brought to so many of us – myself included.

We all know that we have Justice Ginsburg to thank for so many of the rights and freedoms we cherish. But for me, the most important part of Justice Ginsburg's legacy is that she didn't just take on the hard fights for justice. She sought them out. In between the wins for equality and justice, there was tireless, unglamorous and hard work.

That unrelenting commitment to fighting the good fight is the legacy she's left for us, and it's what continues to most inspire me during this campaign. There's nothing easy about running for Senate, but we know Sen. Grassley is vulnerable and there's simply too much at stake to sit on the sidelines. I have sought out this tough fight, and I intend to win.

Today, in reflecting on Justice Ginsburg's legacy, I can't help but think about men like Sen. Grassley who have spent their careers, and used their power, to undermine the same values that Justice Ginsburg stood for. After all, it was Sen. Grassley who weaponized his then-chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee to not only block consideration of President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, but to usher in two Trump-nominated justices who stand against so much that Justice Ginsburg fought for.

We're seeing the consequences of that play out in real time: Those justices just allowed the most restrictive abortion ban in the country to go into effect. Overnight, Roe v. Wade became meaningless in Texas. Because of Chuck Grassley, some of Justice Ginsburg's most important achievements are at risk. But the inspiration and sense of empowerment she sparked in so many of us can never be overturned or defeated.

If each of us embodies Justice Ginsburg's commitment to the fight for equality, together, we can defeat Sen. Chuck Grassley and protect the future of the Supreme Court. Nearly two-thirds of Iowans say they are ready to change – but that change is something we have to fight for.

So today, I'm asking you to fight with me to flip Iowa blue, defend our Senate majority and protect all that Justice Ginsburg championed by contributing to our campaign. Please, friend, can you donate $5 right now to join me in this fight and defend the future of our Supreme Court?

Justice Ginsburg shaped our country for the better, for all of us. We'll always remember her commitment to equality, and together we will honor her legacy through action.

Thank you for all that you do.

– Abby
