We’re witnessing attacks on the right to vote across the country right now, including right here in Montana.

Earlier this spring, our GOP-controlled legislature passed several bills that make it harder for students, the elderly, folks with disabilities, and Native Americans to vote.

Voter suppression bills like these are a direct threat to the core of our democracy, and I was proud to vote against them at the legislative session, but we need to step up and protect Americans’ right to vote at the federal level before it’s too late.

That’s why I support the Freedom to Vote Act, a new bill introduced in the Senate that would make Election Day a federal holiday, establish same-day voter registration in every state, create standards for mail-in voting, and ban partisan gerrymandering.

This bill would protect every Montanans’ right to make their voice heard at the ballot box, but if it’s going to pass, we need both of Montana’s senators to support it.

Sen. Jon Tester is already a cosponsor of this legislation. Will you join me in calling on Sen. Steve Daines to do right by the people of Montana and vote for the Freedom to Vote Act?
