Immigrants are our friends, our neighbors, and our coworkers. They are first responders, doctors, nurses, teachers, military service members, and their presence in New Mexico and beyond enriches our lives for the better.

But Republicans in Congress and legislatures across the country have made it clear that they oppose compassionate and commonsense immigration policies, forcing millions of people to live in the shadows and under constant threat.

There’s no question that our immigration system is broken. That’s why my Democratic colleagues and I have championed a provision in our Build Back Better Budget that includes a dramatically expanded earned pathway to citizenship that we can pass through reconciliation.
