My team and I spent the first two weeks of the month helping people hit hardest by the storm find the necessary resources and support to rebuild their lives — and our hard work is just beginning. We halted our grassroots fundraising efforts without a second thought because our communities and basic decency will always come before anything else.
However, my team and I are falling behind on this quarter’s goal since we didn’t fundraise for the first two weeks of the month. With the FEC end-of-quarter deadline on the horizon, it’s crucial we make up lost ground.

Despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Ida, I refuse to lose hope because we’re making progress every day.
Right now, we’re making the largest dent in eradicating child poverty in decades. Thanks to the expanded Child Tax Credit, we’re cutting child poverty in half and giving millions of families more support to raise and provide for their children.
It’s one of the most significant ways the American Rescue Plan Act is following through on President Biden’s campaign promise to “build back better.”
I won’t make excuses for my Senate Republican colleagues who fail to provide tangible help to the American people, time and time again. Even after the COVID-19 pandemic which created months of instability and economic hardships, not a single Republican voted for the American Rescue Plan Act.
Mitch McConnell recently said he’s “100 percent” focused “on stopping” President Biden — so he and his allies are standing in the way of seemingly every idea Democrats are putting forward. Meanwhile, everyday Americans are struggling to get by and are in need of relief. I’m more determined than ever to defend the Democrats’ Senate majority in the upcoming midterm elections. We need to expand our 50-50 majority so we can pass necessary reforms for the American people.
