Most of the dogs were closed off in an 80 degree, six-by-eight-foot bathroom that was covered in feces and urine and had dangerous levels of ammonia. Many of the dogs are underweight and medical issues like a suspected bone and tooth fracture, flea infestations and an eye infection were observed.
The Caruthersville Humane Society is providing field assistance and temporary sheltering for the rescued cat, while the dogs are being relocated to an emergency ASPCA shelter to receive immediate and ongoing care.
