Dr. Savitha M. R. is the head of pediatrics at Cheluvamba Children's Hospital in Mysore, a city in southwestern India. She has been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic since the beginning -- treating children battling the virus and other serious health conditions.

A third wave of infections from the Delta variant is expected in India and vaccination rates remain low, so Dr. Savitha and her team are preparing for the next rush of sick patients.
