VA HD-51 was in Republican hands for 8 years, until Democrat Hala Ayala flipped it from red to blue in 2017. She's now running to be Virginia's next Lieutenant Governor, and the open seat is one of the most hotly-contested races in the state.

We're lucky to have a strong candidate in Briana Sewell. She's spent years working in Prince William County's local government and organizing in her community. She's fought for paid family and medical leave, lower-cost child-care, affordable college and job training programs, and more affordable eldercare options. Briana understands the issues in her district because she has witnessed them up close by listening to the people’s concerns for the entirety of her professional life.

Briana will bring a bold new voice to VA HD-51 and be ready to legislate on day one. But Republicans view this seat as a major pickup opportunity, and it's critical that we hold it to keep our narrow majority in the House of Delegates.
