Indivisibles,
With everything that happened this week, let’s take a minute to recap
where we stand in the fight for a transformative recovery package.
First, the wins: A few days ago, the House Energy and Commerce Committee
passed a set of great climate provisions, prioritizing strong investments
in renewable energy. We also got a big win on child care, with universal
coverage so no family pays more than 7% of their income on care!
Now, where do we still have work to do? On Wednesday, 3 conservative
Democrats in the Energy and Commerce Committee tanked a proposal to lower
drug prices for millions of people. Luckily, the Ways and Means Committee
passed stronger language, so we still have a chance to expand coverage and
lower prices -- as long as we sustain pressure on every single Democrat in
the House to vote for the final package when it arrives on the floor.
The House needs to pass the reconciliation bill before September 27, which
means pressure is the name of the game next week. We’re bolstering the
progressive caucus, holding conservative Dems accountable, and wrapping up
our targeted work with the key committees in the House -- and we need your
help to make it possible. Between the call pages, targeted recruitment,
policy expertise, and more, this work costs money: [ [link removed] ]Can you donate $10
to help us make it all happen and support all our progressive work this
year?

We’re so proud of how quickly Indivisibles jumped into this fight as soon
as it came up -- your determination to hold your elected officials to high
standards and demand the best from our government is the key to building a
society that invests in its people. We’ve still got more to do to win, and
we need you on our side to finish this.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
