As the White House continues to campaign for the Build Back Better plan, our latest polling shows that voters continue to strongly support the President’s investment agenda. In the key states of Arizona ([link removed]) , Colorado ([link removed]) , Georgia ([link removed]) , Michigan ([link removed]) , Montana ([link removed]) , New Hampshire ([link removed]) , North Carolina ([link removed]) , Oregon ([link removed]) , Pennsylvania ([link removed]) , Washington ([link removed]) , West Virginia ([link removed]) , and Wisconsin ([link removed]) , President Biden’s Build Back
Better plan is supported by a majority of likely voters in all 12 states.
We find voters strongly support the provisions of the Build Back Better agenda, including:
* An increased capital gains tax, higher taxes on the wealthy, limiting deductions for business owners, increasing the corporate tax rate and increased IRS enforcement all have majority support ([link removed]) in each of the 12 states.
* Investing $400 billion in long-term care is popular ([link removed]) with likely voters even when they are provided messaging both for and against.
* Majorities of voters in all 12 states agree ([link removed]) that investments in caregiving can promote economic growth.
* Voters support ([link removed]) the climate provisions of the Build Back Better plan, with support for having the United States get 80% of its power by 2030 from emission-free sources.
* A majority of voters support ([link removed]) creating a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, TPS holders, and essential workers like farmworkers.

New Modeling in All 435 Districts and 50 States on Support for Lowering Drug Prices
This week we also put out a new poll ([link removed]) with Patients for Affordable Drugs Now and Protect Our Care that finds strong support for reforms to the drug industry that lower prices for patients. The survey ([link removed]) was modeled using multilevel regression to estimate results for each of the 50 states and all 435 congressional districts.
Unsurprisingly, we found that voters support ([link removed]) Congress giving Medicare the power to negotiate with drug companies to lower the cost of prescription drugs by a stupid high margin. We find that national voters want to see their Rx costs lowered by a whopping +78-point margin, including Democrats by an +85-point margin, Independents by a +76-point margin, and Republicans by a +71-point margin.

Macroeconomic Analysis: Clean Energy = Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
Do you know about the 48C Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit? You probably haven’t, but you should, because it’s a favorite of none other than the infamous Senator Joe Manchin.
Our new macroeconomic analysis finds the 48C Tax Credit will create 140,000 jobs nationwide and add over $27 billion to GDP. Even better? It can create 15% to 30% more jobs if paired with the CEPP.

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro: Make the Child Tax Credit Permanent
If you’re an avid reader of this newsletter you know that we’re big fans of the White House’s Child Tax Credit, and this week we had the OG of the CTC on the Data for Progress blog to talk about why we need to permanently extend it. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro’s blog ([link removed]) isn’t just a must-read — it also highlights the latest polling ([link removed]) from our war room Fighting Chance for Families (a project with Groundwork Collaborative). Check it out:
“In the short time between its passing and its expiration, the expanded Child Tax Credit will have lifted the burden of this ongoing pandemic off the backs of parents and provided a much-needed shot in the arm of our nation’s small businesses.
The Census Bureau found ([link removed]) that hunger among families with children fell by a quarter after the first checks of the expanded credit were distributed to families. And Columbia University found that the credit lifted 3 million children out of poverty ([link removed]) after just the first check. Recent analysis from the Niskanen Center estimates that such a credit ([link removed]) will generate $27.6 billion in additional spending for our economy, produce an estimated $1.9 billion in revenue for local governments, and provide support for more than half a million new jobs.
This all means more jobs and economic growth going to communities that need it — and fewer families going hungry. Why should we let the expanded Child Tax Credit expire after bearing witness to all this progress we have felt in just three short months?”
