Hi John,
If you don't know already, September 15th through October 15th is Latinx Heritage Month!
Despite making up 18% of the U.S. population, Latinx people only make up 1.2% of local, state, and federal elected officials. That's embarrassing, appalling, and downright undemocratic.
So let's do something about it, John.
Split a donation of $5 or whatever feels right between 30 Latinx candidates we're working with this year. We desperately need them at the decision-making tables across the country.
When Latinx people don't have a seat at the table, we end up with policies that do disproportionate harm to the community -- COVID relief that doesn't address the unique economic and health impacts in the community, education policies that leave Latinx kids behind, an immigration system that is too often cruel, and more.
We need leaders who reflect their communities.
Because that's the whole point of living in a representative democracy.
To win lasting power for Latinx people and the progressive movement, these 30 endorsed candidates need our support. Celebrate Latinx Heritage Month with Run for Something by splitting a donation between them.
Thanks,
Amanda Litman
