This morning, The Cleveland Plain Dealer published an op-ed I wrote about
the Supreme Court’s truly terrible abortion decision in Texas.
The Court effectively allowed for the right to choose to disappear in
Texas, setting the stage for a further erosion of our rights across the
country. A state of fear has been created by the state’s encouragement of
retribution against people who seek reproductive care, offering cash
rewards for reporting private medical procedures.
I am the only candidate for Senate in Ohio — Democrat OR Republican — who
has been firm in supporting the right to choose. I have never flip-flopped
over the fact that reproductive rights are human rights — period.
I’m also the only candidate in the race who has called for unrigging the
Supreme Court after Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell stole several seats.
It’s past time for the Court to be expanded and for President Biden to
have the opportunity to appoint justices that will uphold the right to
choose.
As conservative forces in this race conspire to bring Texas’ restrictive
reproductive rights laws right here to Ohio, I’m standing up and speaking
out.
