Hi John, Terry McAuliffe here and I have a critical update for you on my race for governor of Virginia.

Right now, I’m in the most competitive race of 2021 – it’s a statistical TIE. And at last night’s big debate, my opponent Glenn Youngkin showed voters why he’s the wrong candidate to lead this commonwealth. He proved himself to be the anti-choice, anti-vax, pro-Trump extremist he’s always been. We cannot allow Youngkin to bring Trump’s toxic agenda to Virginia.

This is a critical moment not just for my campaign and for Virginans, but for the Democratic Party as a whole. This is Donald Trump and the GOP’s best shot at picking up a big win this year. Losing this governorship would give Republicans an opportunity to lead a bellwether state that helps determine our success in 2022 and beyond. And early voting just started a few hours ago, which means Virginians are casting their votes right NOW.

So we have a problem: Polls show that not only are we in a statistical tie, but Republicans are fired-up to win. If Democrats don’t turn out I could very well lose this race. So we’ve set a 24-hour matched goal of $50,000 to ensure we can turn out voters, win races like this, and protect Democratic governors nationwide, but we’re missing your support.

John, I’ll admit I’m nervous. My opponent has promised to spend $75 million of his own fortune on buying the Governor’s office.

And Youngkin’s a GOP extremist:he was caught on video pledging to defund Planned Parenthood and ban abortion. He opposes Medicaid expansion, is anti-LGBTQ+, anti-woman, and pro-guns. His political mentor is Ted Cruz, and he’s been endorsed by Donald Trump THREE times.

So you can imagine how confused I am about why more people aren’t stepping up and donating. We’re blowing this one, John.
