John,

As a physician with more than two decades’ experience caring for patients, I can say this with confidence: medical decisions belong between an individual and their doctor. Period.

But Republican legislatures across the country are threatening the doctor-patient relationship like never before — pushing through agendas that undermine personal freedom and bodily autonomy.

On top of extreme restrictions on abortion and reproductive care that could lead to the end of Roe v. Wade, we’re seeing an alarming number of anti-trans bills, especially ones that ban access to gender-affirming health care for transgender youth — including right here in Pennsylvania, where a group of Republican legislators earlier this year moved to ban transgender student athletes from playing women’s sports.

Bills like that are yet another gross violation of both human rights and the relationship between a patient and their doctor. Anti-trans legislation must be stopped at the federal level before even more states pass laws restricting the right to gender-affirming health care and the full range reproductive care options.

I can’t think of a more important moment to send a woman physician who has spent time with patients making decisions about their bodies and reproductive choices to the U.S. Senate — and I would be honored to be the first.

But I need your help to get there. Will you chip in any amount so I can fight for personal freedom, including access to reproductive and gender-affirming health care, in the U.S. Senate?
